On a beautiful, sunny day in July, at the Grand Pre National Historic Site, we enjoyed the annual Acadian Days. Honouring the French settlers who arrived there in 1604, the days were filled with Acadian singing, dancing and food. What we now regard as Cajun, originated with these brave settlers. The award winning singer-songwriter Lennie Gallant had the audience clapping and singing along, while the beautiful and talented young ladies of the gold medal dance troupe La Baie en Joie, thrilled the audience with their precision and artistry. Canadian history brought to life in the beautiful Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia.
